About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Supply Chain Buyer to join our team at Spartronics. This key role is essential to our strategic plan for Supply Chain Management and will involve comprehensive responsibility for commodity and supplier management. The ideal candidate will excel in sourcing, planning, and procuring components necessary to meet MRP requirements in alignment with production schedules and customer needs.
Responsibilities:
- Manage strategic suppliers and commodities to meet quality, delivery, and cost savings objectives.
- Create and manage purchase orders and request quotes, including technical documents, pricing, delivery, and key milestones, to ensure on-time receipt of materials for manufacturing operations.
- Maintain the integrity of MRP parameters (lot/order size, lead time, and safety stock).
- Coordinate quality issues with suppliers as required.
- Work closely with manufacturing, shipping/receiving, and project management personnel to mitigate adverse production impacts from supplier delivery delays.
- Format all quoted parts using standard quote templates.
- Utilized negotiation skills to achieve cost savings and cash management goals.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with engineering and program management teams.
- Manage strategic customers to meet product objectives and on-time delivery.
- Military/Government purchasing responsibilities and/or management of complex customers.
- Identify and work to resolve problems as they develop, escalating issues and providing recommendations for solutions.
- Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
- Review all material and Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) estimates for each bid and serve as the point of contact for the quote.
- Prepare and issue RFPs with appropriate customer flow-downs, terms, and conditions.
- Work autonomously, seeking assistance when necessary, while ensuring the workload is managed to meet deadlines.
- Recommend more efficient processes.
- Must be U.S. persons within the definition of ITAR, with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, Operations, or Engineering, or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of related work experience.
- MRP planning system experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, verbal, and organizational skills, ability to balance short-term priorities, and exceptional information analysis.
- Excellent negotiating skills, project management, time management, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Thrives in fast-paced environments, problem-solves, resolves issues, and demonstrates good business ethics.
- Ability to make independent decisions on requirements analysis, quotes, negotiation, and source selection.
- Able to read and comprehend drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills; must be able to navigate the Internet efficiently and effectively.
- Demonstrated experience and successful results in negotiation skills and strategies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPIM, CPM, or APICS certification.
- Thorough understanding of operations principles (JIT, MRP, TQC, and CRP).
- Exposure to ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485 standards.
Key Metrics and Focus Areas:
- Build strategic partnerships with a portfolio of reputable distributors and manufacturers.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery agreements with suppliers to secure the most favorable terms.
- Ensure all components meet the required quality standards and are sourced from reliable, verified suppliers.
Compensation: This is an exempt position. Compensation is based on work experience in quality, education, and prior work experience in electronics manufacturing.
