We are seeking a skilled Bridge Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the analysis and design of new and existing Department of Transportation (DOT) bridge structures. Your expertise will be instrumental in preparing plans and special provisions for various projects, including new bridges, bridge widening, reconstruction, overlays, and other structures such as retaining walls, sound walls, and hydraulic structures.

Responsibilities Include:
Performing structural analysis and design of bridge elements and creating detailed sketches and calculations for drafting staff.
Checking the analysis and designs completed by consultants and other staff for accuracy and compliance with standards.
Helping to write project specifications, support communication, train new staff, and act as unit lead when needed.
Using bridge design software and spreadsheets effectively, support the development and evaluation of design tools.

Requirements
Licensure as a professional civil engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity. (If obtaining licensure through reciprocity, a practice pending letter from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR before starting employment.)
Experience in structural engineering practices sufficient to understand and appropriately apply design specifications.
Experience performing mathematical and geometric calculations.
Experience preparing technical information and reports.
